Fenceline Network
A network for communities living beside industrial chemical contamination of any kind.
Being set up This site is a holding page. The network has no members yet.
The idea
‘Fenceline community’ is an established environmental-justice term for people who live right beside an industrial site. They are often the first to be exposed to what comes off it, and the last to be heard.
Contamination does not respect topic boundaries. A community may be dealing with PFAS, solvents, heavy metals, smoke or waste from the same fence line. The Fenceline Network is intended as a broader tier for communities living beside industrial chemical contamination of any kind, so they can find each other and learn from each other.
Where it stands
The network is being set up. It was started in October 2026 by residents behind Hillhouse Watch in Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire, UK. It is independent of Hillhouse Watch. No money is asked for or handled.
Its first member network is intended to be PFAS Communities, the international network of communities living with PFAS, the ‘forever chemicals’, and the wider contamination that comes with them. Through it, PFAS Communities UK is part of the same family. There are no other members yet, and none will be listed here until they have asked to join.
What it is intended to offer
- Connecting communities with each other.
- A shared public directory of groups and networks.
- A way to show membership.
The same approach as PFAS Communities will apply: groups are listed only from public information and shown as Listed until they confirm, then become Member. Membership will be free.
